Brian Jonestown Live

Anton Newcombe, to anyone who has seen the film DIGG, knows that the guy is to say the very least, a handful. Which was why it was weird to see him perform last night to the left of the stage, without much banter or belligerence at all. Overall the show was good, but a bit bland probably because I'm just not into their newer stuff. Anyhow, here is a clip I took of them playing "Servo" just before some security guy with no neck threatened me.

YES

I am so excited for this. The trailer alone is almost enough.

Concert Review: Neko Case @ The Variety Playhouse on April 2, 2009

Neko Case, for those of you who don't know, is a female singer/songwriter and member of the group The New Pornographers. Whereas The New Pornographers tend to play short, catchy power pop, Case's work is slower, with roots more in country. I hate the term country to describe her music though. For me, "country" conjures up images of Toby Keith or Garth Brooks. No, her music sounds more like Patsy Cline than any of that. Some would call it "alt-country." I don't really care what you call it, I just know I like it.

So, we got to the Variety Playhouse right on time, got a good view and enjoyed a hell of a good show. Case has a voice many would kill for. She has no need of auto tune, or any sort of fancy equipment. Her voice is flawless. She played a good bit of songs from her new album, "Middle Cyclone," the best of which is "This Tornado Loves You." If she is coming to your area go see her. If you haven't heard her or are skeptical about "alt-country," and I was at first, do yourself a favor and give her a listen. I'd go see her again tomorrow if she were playing here. A+

Man breaks into car only to find garbage, Jared wishes he were there to see his frustration.

My car is a magnet for break-ins. I'm on number 4 now. Almost as many as my tally for red rings of death on my Xbox 360, but I digress. I don't know what it is about the car, I always make an effort to take all valuable things out of it when I get out. I will admit however, that I do tend to leave a bit of trash laying around in it which I suppose might be intriguing to a mongoloid thief. If my car were a human, it would be rape bait.

So, let's talk about something a bit more cheery, shall we? I recently bought GTA: Chinatown Wars, even though I kinda wanted Resident Evil 5. But, I am without endless funds and DS games are a bit cheaper so I went with GTA. I was skeptical at first, but I am having a blast with this game. Rockstar has done some really creative things with the touch screen feature such as unscrewing a plate to get to the wires in a car needed to hotwire it. More developers need to do stuff like this on the DS. Also, in keeping with my gamer on a budget mantra, I picked up God Hand for 11 bucks. I've never played it but hear it is ridiculous. So, RE5, you'll just have to wait until you're in the bargain bin.

Okay, so here we are.

This may not be as flashy and badass as my last site, but when I get spare cash again I'll look into going back. So, hello. I'll be posting later for the 4 of you who care or come across this.
